Installing Joomla
from:Joomla is the state-of-the-art technology for content management systems. It finds wide applications in building websites and other online applications. It is a free resource that is available to everyone and it is open source, which means that the source code is available to you as a user and you are free to customize it. You can use joomla to keep track of website content such as text, photos, documents etc. It finds main applications in corporate portals, corporate intranets, websites for commercial institutions government applications, personal websites etc. Joomla is written using php programming language and uses SQL for the database support.
One of the most attractive features of Joomla is that it is very easy to use even for a user with little experience. The time required to set up a website using Joomla is very little. In a matter of a few minutes, you can have your website up and running. With Joomla, the task of administering the website is so easy and simple that you can do it almost entirely by yourself. There are thousands of variations of Joomla available which make it suited for just about any requirement and hence is very extensible. If you are a programmer, Joomla allows you to build and deploy applications in a very short span of time. Joomla is a favorite package when it comes to building applications for Inventory control systems, data reporting tools, application bridges, product catalogs, ecommerce systems, business directories and communication tools.
Installing Joomla on your computer system is very easy. You just have to use Apache web servers to do this job and then download the package XAMPP for windows after which you should download and install the Joomla package. When choosing an installation you can either choose a local host installation or choose a remote host installation. In the local host installation, all the required files are placed on your computer itself and then the installation is carried out from your system. In a remote host installation, the installation process is carried out through a remote web server. The local host installation is more preferred because the files are more easily accessible to you.
Joomla provides a multiuser and multilevel environment which enables many users to interact amongst themselves in the development of the site. It also offers a “what you see is what you get” editor that aids in the process of content editing. Plug-in support is the main feature that helps a programmer to add or enhance functionalities very quickly with least modification to the existing content. Joomla goes a long in search engine optimization of your site. This helps the site to be ranked better when the search engine presents its list of results to the user.
Over and above all these, it provides better ways to manage the banner advertisements polls, extensions, mails, statistics etc. To create the individual sections, Joomla provides the section manager in which you simply need to enter the details of the section you need to create and then save it to create a new section. By offering such easy to use features, Joomla has become the choice technology for building websites.
